Less than a week ago, typhoon Ondoy hit the Philippines, flooded many cities, killed almost 300 Filipinos and destroyed more than a billion worth of properties. I can’t express how thankful I am for being one of the few lucky ones who escaped the devastation brought by Ondoy. However, it was very heartbreaking for me to see my fellow countrymen suffering, out there in their cold roofs still waiting to be rescued, haven’t eaten a decent meal for days now. After the flood subsides, many will go back to their wrecked homes and start a new life without their loved ones whom they lost in the flood.
Most Filipinos haven’t recovered yet and now, a new typhoon is here to bring hell to Philippines yet again. Right now as I’m typing this I can feel the wrath of super typhoon Pepeng. Some say the typhoon’s not coming, something which I’m not very sure of as I haven’t watched the weather forecast for today. And there’s two more typhoons coming on our way.
I hope that the coming typhoons won’t be very destructive, and that God would give Filipinos enough strength and courage to get through all this.
I have donated money and some of my clothes. I wish I had helped in these little ways. Many Filipinos still need help. If you wish to help, you may head over to Red Cross’ website and make donations. I’d very much appreciate it if you would help Ondoy victims recover from this great mess.
